What We Love About Cape May
July 18th 2020

The City of Cape May is famously known as, “The Nation’s Oldest Seashore Resort”, which is very fitting considering we have the second-largest collection of Victorian homes (just behind San Francisco) in the country! There is something very special about Cape May; whether it be the architecture, sunrises and sunsets, the wonderful locals, the beaches, or a combination of all those things, it’s undeniable that this is a remarkable place. The past few months have been a lot to handle so we thought it’d be a great time to talk about why we love to call Cape May home, through it all.
Victorian Homes
Cape May is home to hundreds of Victorian homes that have been beautifully maintained. In 1878 there was a large fire that unfortunately destroyed much of the city. This was the peak of the Victorian era, that’s why many of the homes are this style! When Cape May was named a National Historic Landmark in 1976, restoration and preservation became a major focus.
Beaches
Cape May has some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. They’re wide and long, the sand is soft and white, and the waves crash just right! Catch a sunrise on a Cape May beach on a chilly summer morning and you’ll never want to live or vacation anywhere else. Fun fact: Cape May is one of the few places where both the sunrise AND sunset can be seen over the water.
Retail
Not only is Cape May known for its beaches, but the shopping is unbeatable! We have a great community of local businesses that offer eclectic and unique products. Beach supplies, homemade treats, apparel, souvenirs, there’s a shop for everything. Plus, the customer service is top-notch.
Dining
When it comes to eating in Cape May, you can’t go wrong. Start your day at the Cove Restaurant with a classic egg breakfast on the beach and end it watching the sunset while you enjoy an oceanfront dinner at Harry’s. Don’t even get us started on Cape May oysters!
Community
The community of Cape May is unmatched. There are families that have lived in the city for generations and newbies alike – everyone is welcome in Cape May!
We could go on and on listing the things we love about our City. We take such joy in knowing that with our help, clients get to call Cape May their forever home or summer getaway destination.
